Guigang is a prefecture-level city in eastern Guangxi in the People's Republic of China, known as Gui County before 1988. Its name means Distinguished Harbour, reflecting its position as a transportation and business hub linking central China with the south, including Hong Kong and Macau. The city covers about 10,601 square kilometers and had a population of just over 4.3 million at the 2020 census; more than 100 million tons of goods pass through its ports each year, and its economy includes chemicals, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and agriculture.
