Eastern Asia

Hami, also known as Kumul, is a prefecture-level city in eastern Xinjiang, China, well known for its sweet Hami melons. In early 2016 the former Hami county-level city merged with Hami Prefecture to form the present prefecture-level city, with the former county-level city becoming Yizhou District. The area has been noted since the Han dynasty for its agricultural products and raw resources.
