Jiangmen

Jiangmen is a prefecture level city in Guangdong Province in southern China, made up of the urban districts of Pengjiang, Jianghai, and Xinhui along with Heshan and the four counties historically known as Siyi: Xinhui, Taishan, Kaiping, and Enping. As of the 2020 census the city had about 4.8 million residents, with roughly 2.66 million in the urban region, and its 2020 GDP was approximately 360 billion yuan. Jiangmen is the ancestral homeland of an estimated 4 million overseas Chinese living in 107 countries and regions, a legacy visible in its architecture, including the fortified diaolou towers of Kaiping and Western style buildings built by returning overseas merchants. The city was opened as a treaty port to Western trade in 1904.
