Luoyang

Luoyang is a prefecture-level city in Henan province, China, at the confluence of the Luo and Yellow rivers in the western part of the province. Its municipal population was about 7.1 million at the 2020 census. One of China's oldest continuously inhabited cities, it served as capital under eleven dynasties across six successive capital cities on the site, including the Eastern Zhou, Eastern Han, Wei and Tang periods, and stood as an eastern terminus of the Silk Roads. Luoyang was also a major center of Buddhism, home to the White Horse Temple and the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
