Luzhou

Luzhou is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Sichuan Province, China, known as the Liquor City and, since 1997, the largest port in the province by size and output. It sits at the confluence of the Tuo and Yangtze rivers, bordering Yunnan, Guizhou, and the municipality of Chongqing, and had about 4.25 million residents at the 2020 census, with roughly 1.24 million in its Jiangyang and Longmatan districts. Renamed from Jiangyang during the Northern and Southern dynasties, it became the capital of southern Sichuan in 1949 and gained prefecture-level city status in 1983.
