Mianyang is the second largest prefecture-level city of Sichuan province, in southwestern China, bordering Nanchong, Suining, Deyang, the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu province and Guangyuan. Covering about 20,281 square kilometres across the county-level city of Jiangyou, five counties and three urban districts, it had a resident population of about 4.922 million at the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025.
