Nyingchi

Nyingchi is a prefecture-level city in the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region in China, also known by its Chinese name Linzhi. It has a population of about 200,000 across an area of roughly 116,175 square kilometers, giving it one of the lowest population densities of any prefecture-level division in Tibet. The city sits at an average elevation of about 3,040 meters, the lowest of any prefecture in Tibet, and its administrative seat is Bayi District. Nyingchi was formally established as a prefecture-level city in March 2015, when the State Council dissolved the former Nyingchi Prefecture and Nyingchi County and created Bayi District in their place.
