Taizhou is a city on the East China Sea coast of Zhejiang province, about 300 kilometers south of Shanghai and 230 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Hangzhou, bordered by Ningbo to the north, Wenzhou to the south, and Shaoxing, Jinhua and Lishui to the west. As of the 2020 census its total population was 6,662,888, with 3,578,660 living in the built-up area.
