Agartala

Agartala is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Tripura, on the banks of the Haora river near the Bangladesh border. Established as the seat of the Agartala Municipal Corporation in 1951, it recorded a 2011 census population of 400,004, rising to an estimated 578,577 by 2022, and is the second most populous city in Northeast India after Guwahati. Its population includes Bengalis, Tripuris and Meiteis, with Bengali, English and Kokborok as official languages.
