Cuddalore, also spelled Kadalur, is a port city and headquarters of Cuddalore District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, a heavy industries hub situated about 5.3 kilometres south of Puducherry. It was an important port city during the British Raj, and the surrounding district is known for the Pichavaram Mangrove Forest.
