Gaya is a city, municipal corporation, and the administrative headquarters of Gaya district and the Magadh division in the Indian state of Bihar. It lies 116 kilometers south of Patna and is Bihar second largest urban center, with a population of approximately 470,839. The city is bordered by rocky hills on three sides and by the Phalgu River to the east.
