Jhansi

Jhansi is a historic city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, formerly known as Balwant Nagar, lying in the Bundelkhand region on the banks of the Pahuj River in the extreme south of the state. It serves as the administrative headquarters of Jhansi district and Jhansi division, sits at an average elevation of 285 meters near the Pahuj and Betwa rivers, and is known as the Gateway to Bundelkhand. It lies about 471 kilometers from New Delhi and 320 kilometers from the state capital, Lucknow.
