Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is a hill station and town in the Dindigul district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, set at an elevation of about 2,225 meters in the Palani Hills of the Western Ghats. It was established in 1845 as a retreat from the summer heat and tropical disease of the plains and has since grown into a popular tourist destination known as the Princess of Hill Stations, with much of its local economy built on tourism and hospitality. Its population was 36,501 at the 2011 census.
