Thoothukudi is a port and industrial city in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, serving as capital and headquarters of the district. It has the second highest Human Development Index in Tamil Nadu after Chennai, is headquarters to Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, and its V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority is one of the major ports in India.
