Calang is a town on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and the capital of Aceh Jaya Regency. It had a population of about 12,000 before the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, which was reported to have left the town vanished except for scattered shards of concrete, with only about 30 percent of its townspeople surviving.
