Cirebon is a port city on the northern coast of Java, Indonesia, approximately 297 kilometers east of Jakarta, straddling the border between West and Central Java, so that its history has been shaped by both Sundanese and Javanese culture as well as Arab and Chinese influence. The 2020 census recorded 333,303 residents in the city itself, with mid-2025 estimates at 347,537, while its wider metropolitan area, spanning 1,114.64 square kilometers, had 2,603,924 residents in 2020.
