Kasongan

Kasongan is the regency seat of Katingan Regency in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, located about 80 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital, Palangka Raya. The town sits at an elevation of 22 meters and, as of 2021, had a population of 18,572 spread across two sub-districts, Old Kasongan and New Kasongan, over an area of 117.9 square kilometers. It has a tropical equatorial climate with consistent warmth and heavy annual rainfall. The population is predominantly Muslim, with Christian, Hindu/Kaharingan and Buddhist minorities, and the town serves as a regional hub with schools, healthcare facilities, markets and religious buildings for the surrounding area.
