Rantepao is a town in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the capital of North Toraja Regency, serving as the cultural center of the Toraja ethnic group. Situated on the Sadang River about three hundred kilometers northeast of Makassar, it became the entry point for tourism to the Tana Toraja area after the region opened to visitors in the 1970s, and it hosts a significant Muslim population within the largely Christian Toraja community. Its population was 43,123 at the 2010 census.
