Sari

Sari is the capital of Mazandaran province in northern Iran, situated between the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains and the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, known locally as the Mazandaran Sea. The 2016 census recorded 347,402 residents, making it the largest and most populous city in Mazandaran. The area has ancient roots dating to the seventh millennium BCE, and Sari served as capital of the historical region of Tabaristan in the seventh century under the Dabuyid dynasty and briefly served as the capital of Iran in a later period. It has been ranked the most livable city in Iran in recent assessments.
