Iwaki, Fukushima

Iwaki is a city in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, in the Tohoku region, and is the largest city in the prefecture by land area, covering about 1,232 square kilometers. It was formed in 1966 through the merger of fourteen municipalities and was designated a core city in 1999. As of August 2023 it had a population of about 322,019.
