Takasaki is a city in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, in the Kanto region, and has been the largest municipality in Gunma Prefecture since 1990. It is known as the hometown of the Daruma doll. As of August 2020 it had a population of about 372,369 spread across roughly 459 square kilometers. The city was raised to city status in 1900 and designated a core city in 2011.
