Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu is the state, administrative and royal capital of Terengganu in Malaysia, on the country's east coast at the estuary of the Terengganu River where it meets the South China Sea. The Sultanate of Terengganu was established there in 1708, and the settlement became a municipal council in 1979 before achieving city status in 2008 under the title Waterfront Heritage City. With a 2020 population of 375,424, the largely Muslim, Malay city is known for heritage sites including its Chinatown, the Terengganu State Museum, and the Crystal Mosque.
