Dalanzadgad

Dalanzadgad is the capital of Omnogovi Province in southern Mongolia, about 540 kilometers south of Ulaanbaatar, at an elevation of 1,470 meters. As of 2024 it had 32,674 residents. Despite its Gobi Desert surroundings, the city is by Mongolian standards one of the warmest places in the country during winter, and the nearby Yolyn Am valley holds a distinctive steppe microclimate with flowing streams and vegetation. In 2007 the Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority built a new airport there with the country's second-longest runway.
