Sukhbaatar is a city in northern Mongolia on the Orkhon River, serving as the capital of Selenge Province, with a population of 22,741 as of 2017. It was founded in 1940 and named after the Mongolian revolutionary leader Damdin Sukhbaatar. The city sits directly on the border with Russia and is the northernmost railway station on the Trans-Mongolian Railway in Mongolia, facing the Russian station of Naushki just across the frontier.
