Biratnagar

Biratnagar is the capital of the easternmost Koshi Province in Nepal and serves as the headquarters of Morang district. The 2021 census recorded a population of 244,750 within an area of 77.06 square kilometers, making it the sixth largest city in Nepal, and it was elevated to metropolitan city status on May 22, 2017. The city is home to the first large-scale industry built in Nepal, the Biratnagar Jute Mills, which earned it recognition as the industrial capital of the country, and it also functions as a border gateway to India.
