Al-Bireh is a city in the central West Bank, 15 kilometers north of Jerusalem, and the capital of the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate under the Palestinian National Authority. It sits on the central ridge that runs through the West Bank at an elevation of 860 meters and covers approximately 22.4 square kilometers, at coordinates 31.905 north, 35.215 east.
