The Russian Far East

The Russian Far East is the easternmost region of Russia, stretching from Siberia's eastern edge to the Pacific coast and encompassing territory bordering China, Mongolia, North Korea, Japan and the United States across the Bering Strait. Sparsely populated relative to its vast area, it includes Vladivostok, the Kamchatka Peninsula and Sakhalin Island, and is administratively distinct from Siberia proper even though the two are often conflated in everyday usage.
