Al-Muabbada is a town in Al-Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria, close to the borders with Iraq and Turkey. A 2004 census by the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics recorded a population of 15,759, making it the eighth largest town in the governorate that year. Most inhabitants are Kurds, with a substantial Shammar Arab minority. According to the Kurdish news agency Rudaw, the town was renamed to Al-Muabbada under the Ba'athist government of President Hafez al-Assad.
