Hengchun

Hengchun is a township on the southern tip of the Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung County, Taiwan, and is the southernmost township in the country as well as the only urban township in southern Pingtung County. It covers about 136.8 square kilometers and had a population of 29,702 as of February 2024. The town serves as the gateway to Kenting National Park, Taiwan's southernmost national park, and though about half of its historic city wall and all four of its gates survive, its pristine beaches and tourism industry now draw more visitors than it has residents; the town also featured in the 2008 film Cape No. 7, the top-grossing film in Taiwanese history.
