Rayong

Rayong is a city on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand and the capital of Rayong province, with a 2016 population of about 64,256 across 16.95 square kilometers. Its traditional economy centers on fishing, and it is the main producer of Thailand fish sauce, but it has also grown into a hub for the chemical and automotive industries, including a Ford Motor Company assembly plant that opened in 2012 employing about 2,200 people. In 2017 the Financial Times named Rayong an Asia-Pacific City of the Future in recognition of its economic development.
