Amyzon

Amyzon was an ancient city of Caria, in what is now Aydin Province in western Turkey, about 30 kilometers south of modern Kocarli. It joined the Athenian-led alliance around 405 BCE and later became a member of the Chrysaorian League under Seleucid rule; the geographer Strabo dismissed it as merely a dependency of nearby Alabanda. Surviving remains include city walls up to six meters high, vaulted underground storerooms, and the ruins of a Doric temple to Artemis, alongside later Byzantine structures.
