Apamea Myrlea

Apamea Myrlea was an ancient city and Christian bishopric on the coast of the Sea of Marmara in the region of Bithynia, a few kilometers south of modern Mudanya in Bursa Province, Turkey. Originally a Greek colony called Myrlea, it was rebuilt and renamed around 202 BC by King Prusias I of Bithynia after his wife, and was later elevated to the status of a Roman colonia under Augustus or Julius Caesar. It became an important Christian center and bishop seat in the 4th century, later an archdiocese, before declining under Ottoman expansion by the 14th century, and the Catholic Church still lists it today as a vacant titular see.
