Neandreia

Neandreia was a Greek city in the southwest of the Troad region of Anatolia, its remains lying on Cigri Dag about nine kilometers east of Alexandria Troas in Turkey's modern Canakkale province. It was established by Aeolian settlers, as confirmed by sixth century BC inscriptions in the Aeolic dialect, and by the fifth century BC it belonged to the Delian League and paid tribute to Athens. A major defensive wall was built in the late fifth or early fourth century BC, but around 310 BC the city was absorbed into Alexandria Troas through a synoecism ordered by Antigonus I Monophthalmus, after which it lost its independent political status though the site remained inhabited under Rome.
