Zonguldak

Zonguldak is a city on Turkey's Black Sea coast and the seat of Zonguldak Province, founded in 1849 as a port to export coal mined near Eregli. Coal mining has shaped the city's economy and identity for more than 170 years, with port facilities built in 1848 to support the trade, though the city now faces the challenge of economic transition as coal jobs decline. Zonguldak, with a population of roughly 100,000, is also known as a producer of chestnut honey.
