Bereket

Bereket, known before 1999 as Gazanjyk or Kazandzhik, is a city in Balkan Province in western Turkmenistan and the administrative center of Bereket District. It sits in an oasis in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains on the edge of the Karakum Desert, at a strategic junction of the Trans-Caspian Railway and the North-South Transnational Railway, and has a large locomotive repair depot and a modern railway station. It lies about 260 kilometers west of the capital Ashgabat and 340 kilometers east of the Caspian port of Turkmenbashy, with Balkanabat 120 kilometers to the west and Serdar 90 kilometers to the east; in 2022 it had a population of 23,697.
