Bien Hoa

Bien Hoa is a city in Dong Nai Province in southeastern Vietnam, situated northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. As of 2022 its population was 1,272,235 across 263.62 square kilometers, making it the sixth largest city in Vietnam by population and, until 2025, a class-1 provincial city serving as the capital of Dong Nai Province. One of the oldest cities in southern Vietnam, it fell to French forces in 1861 and later developed into a major industrial hub with six industrial zones. On 1 July 2025, Vietnam abolished district-level administrative units nationwide, and Bien Hoa ceased to exist as a separate municipal city, becoming part of Dong Nai Province directly.
