Thu Dau Mot is a city in southeastern Vietnam that served as the capital of Binh Duong Province until the province merged into Ho Chi Minh City on 12 June 2025. As of 2024 its population was 373,105 across 118.91 square kilometers, and it sits on the left bank of the Saigon River upstream from Ho Chi Minh City. The city was reclassified upward through Vietnams urban grading system, reaching Grade-III status in 2007, Grade-II in 2014, and Grade-I on 6 December 2017, before the 2025 merger ended its status as a separate municipality.
