Ballina, New South Wales

Ballina is a town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, seat of the Ballina Shire local government area, about 740 kilometers north of Sydney and 185 kilometers south of Brisbane. It lies on the Richmond River and serves as a gateway to Byron Bay, on ancestral Bundjalung land where archaeological evidence shows a presence of at least 6,000 years. Ballina's urban population reached 46,190 by the end of 2021, with the town itself recording 18,532 at the 2021 census.
