Tamworth, New South Wales

Tamworth is a major regional city and the administrative centre of north-eastern New South Wales, Australia, on the Peel River roughly midway between Sydney and Brisbane. It had a population of 43,874 at the 2021 census, ranking as the third largest inland city in New South Wales and 34th among Australian cities, and in 1888 became the first place in Australia to use electric street lights, earning it the nickname the First Town of Lights. Tamworth is also known as the Country Music Capital of Australia, hosting the second largest country music festival in the world, and as the National Equine Capital of Australia for its equine events and facilities.
