Koror

Koror is a state of the Republic of Palau, encompassing the islands around Koror Island together with volcanic islands to the north and the Rock Islands lagoon to the south, and it is Palau's most populous state and primary commercial hub, home to more people than the rest of Palau combined. It served as the capital of Palau during the Japanese-administered South Seas Mandate period, and in traditional Palauan culture it is the seat of the Ibedul, the country's high chief. Tourism built around diving and the Rock Islands now anchors Koror's economy, and the 2020 census recorded 11,199 residents.
