FAQs

Why did tourism grow in Wadowice?

Its heritage and its status as the birthplace of Pope John Paul II led to fast growth of tourism after 1989.

After Poland's peaceful change of political and economic system in 1989, most of the local industry in Wadowice was found inefficient and went bankrupt. The area's ecological and historical heritage, together with the town's status as the birthplace of Pope John Paul II, then led to fast growth of tourism.
