Historical and Former States of Africa

A group of 6 former sovereign states and dynasties that once existed in Africa but no longer exist in that form today: the Marinid, Wattasid, Zayyanid and Almoravid dynasties, Ifriqiya and the Almohad Caliphate. Each member state is attested by its own cited source and carries a SubLabel giving its historical dates and the region it occupied. Every one of the six member polities was centered on Northern Africa, so this group is anchored directly under the Northern Africa subregion, an exact rather than merely representative match.
