This group collects the 16 sovereign states and territories that the atlas's own country entities already record, through each country's own SubLabel field (set when the country itself was minted and sourced), as sitting in the United Nations M49 geoscheme's Southern Europe intermediate region. It is a single flat group under the Southern Europe subcategory, not split further by any smaller unit, since Southern Europe stays well under the atlas's own hundred-member threshold for a further split.
