Wiener Neustadt is a city in the southern part of the Austrian state of Lower Austria, about 50 kilometers south of the center of the capital, Vienna, and a self-governed city serving as the seat of the district administration of Wiener Neustadt-Land District. It is home to the Theresian Military Academy, one of the world's oldest military academies, established by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1751 to train officers for the Austrian army.
