Ozalj is a town in central Croatia, in Karlovac County, perched on the Kupa River near the Slovenian border. The 2021 census recorded 1,053 residents in the town proper, with 5,837 across the wider municipality of 96 settlements. First mentioned in 1244 as a free royal town, Ozalj is known for its castle and St. Vitus Church, and April 30 marks the anniversary of the 1671 execution of the local nobles Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan. The municipality is also home to Munjara, a hydroelectric plant built in 1907 and 1908.
