Rijeka

Rijeka is a port city on Croatia's Adriatic coast, the country's principal seaport and third-largest city. It sits where the Rjecina river meets Kvarner Bay, and its economy has long centered on shipbuilding, maritime trade and the port itself. The city has passed between Habsburg, Italian, Yugoslav and Croatian administration over the twentieth century, giving it a mixed Croatian, Italian and Hungarian architectural and cultural heritage. It served as European Capital of Culture in 2020.
