Sinj is a town in the Dalmatian hinterland of Croatia, in Split-Dalmatia County, situated in the Cetina river valley. It is known for the Sinjska Alka, a centuries-old equestrian tournament and jousting competition commemorating an early eighteenth-century victory over an Ottoman army, held annually and recognized by UNESCO as an element of intangible cultural heritage. The town serves as a market and administrative center for the surrounding Cetinska Krajina region.
