Adamov is a town of about 4,600 inhabitants in the Blansko District of the South Moravian Region in the Czech Republic, in the valley of the Svitava River within the Drahany Highlands, roughly six kilometres south of Blansko and ten kilometres north of Brno. First mentioned in records in 1506, it developed as an industrial center, and its former industrial area is now a protected monument reservation; a railway connection on the Brno to Letovice line was established in 1849. Adamov was granted town status in 1964. Its Church of Saint Barbara, built from 1855 to 1857, holds the Zwettl Altar dating from 1516 to 1525.
