Horsens

Horsens is a city on the southeast coast of the Jutland peninsula in Denmark, and is the seat of Horsens municipality in the Central Denmark Region. It is the sixth largest city in Denmark, with an urban population of 65,037 as of January 1, 2026, while the wider municipality has 98,806 residents. Its name, in use since the 12th century, comes from old Danish words for horse and headland. The city is known for Horsens New Theatre, a cultural venue that hosts more than 200 events a year and has drawn internationally prominent performers.
