Argentomagus

Argentomagus was a Roman city on the Mersans plateau in central France, on the north bank of the river Creuse at the point where a Roman bridge once crossed it. It stood at the junction of two roads, one linking Cenabum (Orleans) to Augustoritum (Limoges) and the other linking Limonum (Poitiers) to Avaricum (Bourges). Its Latin name meant Silver Market, and the modern town of Argenton takes its name from the ancient site.
